Roads & Parking
Anyone driving to Willmore End needs to enter via either Nursery Road or Parkleigh Road. Prior to 2011 the route to Willmore End from Parkleigh Road was via an unadopted road with potholes, abandoned cars, no pavements and no street lights. Until 2018 Nursery Road was bumpy and potholed. Every bit of available space on roads, grass verges and pavements in Willmore End were used for parking vehicles.

With the support of Councillor Diane Neil-Mill and our other Abbey Ward Councillors, WERA successfully campaigned for the reconstruction and adoption of the potholed roadway between Nursery Road and Parkleigh Road. Merton Council approved a sum of £82,000 in the 3rd March 2010 Budget and construction work began in February 2011.

The previously potholed road was adopted by Merton Council and is now a pleasant tree lined street with pavements, street lighting, no abandoned cars and no fly-tipping!

The addition of double yellow lines on street corners improved access to Willmore End and the introduction of a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) removed vehicles from pavements, thereby greatly increasing pedestrian safety.

The resurfacing of Nursery Road in 2018, achieved with the support of Councillor Katy Neap, also had a significant positive impact on the area.

Willmore End and Parkleigh Road were resurfaced in October 2023 after nearly 50 years of wear and tear. Our thanks to Councillor John Braithwaite for his help in getting this much needed work brought forward.
